| [in italiano] | Since
its birth, cinema has determined the development of a system of conscious
and unconscious relations with architecture. In the course of this
century, the matter of these relationships has been explored in its
diverse manifestations, disciplined in the practice of documentary
film and analyses of the built environment, investigated in its expressive
values and in the capacity of modifying the perception of the world.
Cinema has continually experimented with elaborating architectonic
objects and spaces, and now caters to a public always more attentive
with suggestions, interpretations and constructions. On the other
hand, architecture has recognized the cinema as an extraordinary means
for the investigation of lived space, an instrument with the capacity
of demonstrating what words, designs and photographic images cannot.
All of this, with the development of means of digital production and
communication, enjoys a new actuality. The architectonic space described
through the moving image has become in some measure a figurative codex
useful for designers. More and more architects find these two disciplines
colliding in various arenas, in the research concerning common design
strategies, as well as in the focusing of productive and communicative
structures in a position to respond to the solicitations which cinema
has subjected our vision of the built environment for more than a
century now. "Movies" is a space in which ARCH'IT intends
to propose a reflection on meaningful episodes of the relationship
articulated between cinema and architecture, in order to provide a
place in the realm of investigation on the most recent architectural
modifications. |
